Love it...

I often wish humans had such exquisite control of their hindbrains. Yes, we have hindbrains too, and they're non-sentient, much like yours. Our hindbrains are co-resident in the skull, often referred to as "reptilian" brains (no racial slur intended, of course). The problem seems to be that we have rather strong social inhibitions against allowing our hindbrains to gain control. Those of us who allow that to happen frequently end up killing or stealing or raping or performing other undesirable acts. These people usually end up in prison, a rather austere and cold place designed chiefly, it seems to me, to keep the criminals away from society for a while while they "cool down". Unfortunately, this seldom works.

I suspect the communication and control problems we have with our hindbrains are a result of two causes: first, our hindbrains are so closely intertwined with our forebrains that it's often practically impossible to detect that a given thought originated in the hindbrain. This makes it extremely difficult (usually) to establish any sort of "contact" -- you can't contact something as a separate entity if you are the entity. Secondly, we are as yet a very young race, still quite far, I suspect, from reaching our true mental potential. Many of our best techniques must seem incredibly primitive to more advanced races.

At any rate, I'm deeply honored to have been allowed to share a part of your life, and I'm sure many of the other humans on the system feel the same way. Encore!
